Badger CDL Testing – Examination Services

Badger CDL Testing provides Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) examination services seven days a week, 365 days a year, subject to daylight testing hours.

We operate multiple testing locations throughout Wisconsin, including:
Milwaukee, Oak Creek, Franklin, Cudahy, Caledonia, Mount Pleasant, and Kenosha, offering convenient access for applicants across the region.

Types of CDL Exams We Offer

Badger CDL Testing conducts CDL exams for:

  • Walk-in applicants
    (Self-scheduled and self-paid candidates)

  • Contracted CDL schools and technical colleges
    (Testing for students enrolled in CDL training programs)

  • Trucking and transportation companies
    (Testing for employees participating in company-sponsored CDL training programs)

Exam Fees (Wisconsin DOT Regulated)

All CDL exam fees are set and regulated by the Wisconsin State Department of Transportation (DOT). No examiner or testing provider may charge more than the amounts listed below:

  • Pre-Trip Inspection: $50

  • Basic Control Skills (Backing): $50

  • Road Test: $50

Total cost for the full three-part CDL exam: $150

  • Each portion costs $50, regardless of whether taken individually or as part of the full exam

  • Applicants must successfully pass each portion before advancing to the next

  • Retests for any failed portion are $50 per portion, at the same DOT-regulated rate

We accept the following forms of payment:

  • Cash

  • Check

  • Credit/Debit Card (preferred)

Cancellations & No-Show Policy

  • No-show fees apply (please contact us for details)

  • No cancellation fee will be charged if the exam is canceled at least 1–2 hours prior to the scheduled start time

​

Testing Requirements

All applicants must present the following at the time of testing:

  • A valid driver’s license

  • A valid Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP)

  • A DOT Medical Card/Certificate, unless legally exempt​

  • All testing is conducted during daylight hours only.

​

Out-of-State Applicants

  • We are authorized to test applicants from any U.S. state

  • Exam results can be electronically transferred to the applicant’s home state if testing is completed in Wisconsin

​

Important Requirement for Non-Wisconsin Residents:
Applicants who do not hold a Wisconsin driver’s license and CLP must have completed 100% of their CDL training at a Wisconsin-based, DOT-approved CDL school.

​

Note:
Out-of-state applicants who did not complete 100% of their CDL training in Wisconsin cannot be tested by a Wisconsin-authorized CDL examiner.
